Daniel Patterson’s Alta Group opens Alta Adams in Los Angeles’ historic West Adams neighborhood — the Bay Area-based restaurant group’s first restaurant in Southern California. Adjacent to Adams Coffee Shop, Alta Adams is designed to be an inclusive setting, serving comforting food and great cocktails that bring people together in community. Alta Adams’ culinary vision is led by chef Keith Corbin, a Watts native who began working with Patterson during the opening of the original LocoL in Watts, before joining him at both LocoL and Alta Group restaurants in the Bay Area. The menu fuses the Southern flavors and dishes Corbin grew up eating and preparing alongside his grandmother. Offerings include black eye pea fritters, grilled pork collar with chow chow and sides such as candied yam gratin with spiced cashews and collard greens with smoked oil — each composed to encourage sharing. Alta Group beverage director Aaron Paul is behind the bar program that features cocktails, wine and beer with an emphasis on California producers and local ingredients. Cocktails include the Lunchbox with butter-washed whiskey, huckleberry, peanuts and Aperol and Through the Grapevine with vodka, concord grapes, tarragon and Burma Tonic. 5359 West Adams Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016; 323.571.4999
