The Oaks at Ojai

Whether you need a jump start to a healthier lifestyle, or simply need a break from it all, The Oaks at Ojai (122 East Ojai Ave., Ojai, CA; 800.753.OAKS) is the perfect respite for you. Nestled in northern Ventura County, a 90-minute drive from Los Angeles, The Oaks at Ojai offers a serene, yet upbeat atmosphere to give you overall wellness.

Built in 1920s, The Oaks has a Spanish Mission Revival interior that is through out their rooms. We had a little cottage that had a patio, fireplace, living room, bedroom, and huge bathroom with a very large tub (which I took advantage of).

The Oaks specializes in getting your body in motion and finding the workout that is fun for you. They will keep your momentum going with activities like scenic mountain hikes, aquatic exercise and daily group classes including a variety of cardio classes, dance options, yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, and stretch options. There is also a gym to work out on your own and a sauna, jacuzzi and steam room to relax in after your workouts. We did a night time mediation that was perfect before heading to bed and in the morning, hiked 3 miles in the beautiful Ojai mountains.

Fitness theme weeks are offered year round where you can enjoy bonus classes and activities at no extra charge. Other weekend or mid week topics range from Healthy Relationships, Spring Into Spring Foods and Meditation.

I headed to The Oaks for relaxation. With working full time as a graphic designer, running this blog, and writing for CBS LA, I find it difficult to find time to just get back to me. The Oaks allowed my much needed “me time” with a spa filled with treatments. You can chose from a list of treatments including joint massage, cranio scaral massage, Thai table massage, Ojai olive oil body soufflé, seasonal scrubs, acupressure massage for metabolism, Skin Authority Sleek and Slim body treatment, and spa reflexology.

They also have Skin Authority and G.M. Collin Clinical Treatments, including Collagen Regeneration Facial, AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) Facials, Algomask Facials, Vitamin D lifting/anti-aging and Sea C Spa Vitamin C. I did their new Fit & Firm Signature Facial and it was unlike any facial I have ever had. First of all, I felt so comfortable with their skin expert, as she educated me on skincare and the procedures she was doing. With treatments for my feet, hands, and a mini shoulder massage, this facial was more like a full body experience. The mask she applied, was unique in that it covered your eyes and dried to a rubbery layer that peeled off (not suggested for those who may be claustrophobic). I left the spa feeling relaxed, radiant, and healthy. I wish every day could be spent in a robe.
