The idea – bring Spain to West Hollywood. The owners of Estrella on Sunset Blvd. made their idea a reality by transforming the trendy eatery into a Spanish-style restaurant.
Named after the circus girl from the Joni Mitchell song, Ladies of the Canyon, Estrella strives to combine food, music, artistry and community. Upon entering, you walk thru the cozy outdoor garden, complete with couches and a fireplace. The outdoor area is like a scene from a movie. Indoor seating is also available, but I suggest dining outside and basking in the gorgeous setting.
The Spanish-inspired menu is filled with authentic dishes like: charcuterie and cheese, fresh Spanish salads and sandwiches. Estrella’a atmosphere is perfect for you and a friend or a large party. What better way to socialize and chat with your fellow diners then through shared plates known as tapas. Estrella is known for: Patatas Bravas and Croquettas de Pollo, Barcelona Style Shellfish Stew and meat dishes like Black Angus Ribeye “Chuleta.” Make sure to sample the Fried Eggplant and the seared octopus (Pulpo a la Gallega). Unlike most restaurants, Estrella pairs the buttermilk marinated fried eggplant with honey. The sweet/savory combination is perfection. The seared octopus and fingerling potatoes are perfectly seasoned to offer a one- of- a- kind culinary experience. Oh, and did I mention the sangria…. Delicioso!
To sum it up, my dining experience at Estrella was fabulous. From the hip location on the famous Sunset Blvd, to the warm and cozy ambiance, to the enticing and unique menu, Estrella delivers.
