It’s officially spooky season, and the stars have something to say about it. According to a new October 2026 report on Halloween astrology from California Psychics, Gemini is the spookiest zodiac sign, with more horror movie characters born under it than any other.
And yes, I’m a Gemini. I honestly don’t know if I should be offended or flattered, LOL. Let’s dig in.
How the Spookiest Zodiac Sign Was Decided
This is a lighthearted look at movie characters, not real people. The researchers studied more than 80 scary movie characters (85 in total) and tracked each one’s birthday, star sign, and number of horror movie appearances. Out of those 85, 23 birthdays came from official movies or sources, while the other 62 came from fan wikis, Wikidata, and similar sites. All of the numbers were combined into a single score out of 100 to reveal which signs have the darkest reputation on screen.
Here’s how the 12 star signs line up in the horror movies:
1. Gemini: The Spookiest Sign of All
- Horror characters: 11
- Share of all characters: about 1 in 8
- Movie appearances: 35
- Biggest star: Jason Voorhees, with 12 movies
Geminis are known for having two sides, and horror fans have met plenty of them on screen. Gemini villains have also come back for sequels more than any other sign’s.
The sign’s most famous face is Jason Voorhees, born on June 13th and forever linked to Camp Crystal Lake. Damien Thorn from The Omen arrived on June 6th, a date chosen on purpose to wink at 666. Saw’s Mark Hoffman and the three killer kids from Bloody Birthday are Geminis too.
As a Gemini, I’ll take “two-sided and unforgettable” as a compliment. Just please keep the hockey mask away from me.
2. Scorpio: Intense and Mysterious
Scorpios are known for being intense and a little mysterious, so it’s no shock to see them this high. The sign matches Gemini with 11 characters, from Count Dracula to American Psycho‘s Patrick Bateman. Saw’s Amanda Young adds a more recent favorite to the mix.
Halloween falls in the middle of Scorpio season, and Hatchet’s Victor Crowley and Scream VI’s Ethan Landry both have an October 31st birthday. Dracula, Patrick Bateman, and Amanda Young would make a very creepy Halloween party, and all three are Scorpios.
3. Leo: Born for the Spotlight
Leos love attention, and scary movies have given them plenty. The sign has 10 horror characters, or about 1 in 10, including two of the most unforgettable: Jack Torrance from The Shining and Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Two ghosts from Japanese horror, Sadako from The Ring and Toshio from The Grudge, are Leos too. Scream’s Stu Macher proves the loudest guy in the room isn’t always the friendliest.
4. Aries: Eerie and Bold
Aries has 9 scary characters, and the one horror fans remember best is Kayako Saeki, the ghost mom from The Grudge. Then there’s The Exorcist‘s Regan MacNeil, whose spinning-head scenes made her one of the most talked-about kids in thriller history. Misery’s Annie Wilkes and Captain Spaulding from Rob Zombie’s Firefly keep the sign’s spooky reputation going strong.
5. Libra: Calm, Charming, and Creepy
Libra is meant to be the peaceful, charming sign, and at first glance Norman Bates fits. But the Psycho motel owner is one of 8 scary movie characters in the sign, alongside Ginger Fitzgerald from Ginger Snaps and Louis from Interview with the Vampire.
Then there’s Michael Myers, who keeps returning to Haddonfield every Halloween. He was born on October 19th, just three days after Norman Bates (October 16th), so mid-October is a busy time for scary birthdays.
A Psychic’s Take on Halloween Energy
Anais, Psychic Advisor at California Psychics, shared her thoughts on this year’s Halloween energy:
“Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio over Halloween is the perfect mix for communicating with spirit. Mercury rules the mind and communication. The retrograde slows down logic and reasoning, relaxing our rational mind. This energy allows us to be receptive to our subconscious thoughts. So what happens when we add that to Scorpio’s influence to look below the surface, and do this on Halloween when the veil is the thinnest? It’s the perfect combination to connect with spirit. Set your intention and be open to whatever mystical experience you have.”

So, are Geminis the spookiest sign? According to the horror characters, yes, and with Jason Voorhees leading the pack, I’m choosing to be flattered. What’s your sign, and which scary movie character shares it? Tell me in the comments!
