Taste WBK‘s “Meet the Winemaker Dinner” with Tricycle Wine Partners of Sonoma
Hosted by Winemaker Alex Beloz, Taste WBK brings you the tastes of Sonoma with its first “Meet the Winemaker” dinner of 2017 featuring Tricycle Wine Partners whose labels include Poseidon and Obsidian. The five-course, farm-to-fork menu, created by Executive Chef Brad Neumann with pairings curated by Taste WBK Sommelier Garrett Brandt, includes: winter Mesclun Salad made with house made ricotta custard, market pears, and toasted almonds paired with 2014 Poseidon Napa Valley Chardonnay; Cedar Plank Salmon, with spaetzle, pancetta, chives, and wild mushroom ragu paired with 2014 Poseidon Napa Valley Pinot Noir; Chicken Oscar with crab bernaise sauce and grilled asparagus paired with 2014 Poseidon “Boon Fly Hill” Chardonnay; Red Wine Braised Pork Cheeks with roasted market carrots, garlic pommes puree, and veal demi paired with 2014 Poseidon “Primo’s Hill” Pinot Noir; and Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake with black pepper ice cream & candied hazelnuts paired with 2014 Obsidian Cabernet Sauvignon. A “Happy 420 Hour” Menu at ediBOL Restaurant
On November 8, 2016, voters approved recreational use of marijuana in California and Los Angeles Arts District restaurant ediBOL created an innovative “Happy 420 Hour” menu featuring both refreshing drinks and delectable munchaBOLs. ediBOL’s inspiration came from the designated “420” hour. Legend has it that a group of individuals met everyday at 4:20pm to smoke marijuana. One of the inevitable outcomes of smoking is the desire to curb hunger cravings. By anticipating the needs of hungry individuals, ediBOL designed a satisfying and imaginative menu for these fun-filled hours. Munch on Hash Melts that combines roasted garlic and herb pork hash with melted sharp cheddar, lime crema, and tomatillo pineapple relish. Other favorites are Fried Pickle Chips; Spiced Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sliders, topped with creme fraiche ranch and honey citrus slaw; and PB&J made with pork belly, fig jam, and zesty lemon gremolata. ediBOL’s drinkaBOLS ($6) include hand-crafted cocktails is named after a popular marijuana strain, combining homemade shrubs, muddled fruit, and shochu. The Pineapple Express is a concoction with tropical mango, lime, and ginger. Merrin Mae, a longtime cook at places like Sotto and Union, is now serving up a savory biscuit sandwich pop-up inside Woodcat Coffee in Echo Park. Chianina Steakhouse’s Vinter Ross Sullivan Vineyards Dinner
Chianina Steakhouse, welcomes Ross Sullivan of Sullivan Vineyards to its first vintners’ dinner of 2017. Chianina is one of only two restaurants in California to serve Sullivan wines, which are only available at the winery or to Sullivan Club members. Sullivan Vineyards began in the 1950s when patriarch Jim Sullivan’s passion for wines began. He presented his bride with a simple grape arbor as a wedding gift, which eventually blossomed into a way of life for the couple. Jim was originally known for his graphic designs having created illustrations for such pop culture icons as The Monkees and Dick Clark Productions. Sullivan Winery is one of only a handful of family wineries that still exist in Napa Valley with son Ross now at the helm. Chef Bryant Taylor along with Aronne, who is the restaurant’s sommelier and managing partner, have collaborated on the menu. The six-course menu includes: Duo of Hamachi with fennel, apple, and brown butter paired with 2015 Sauvignon Blanc; Halibut with piquillo pepper, chorizo, and yukon gold potato paired with 2015 Chardonnay; Cavat Elli, hand rolled pasta with black truffle, egg yolk, and grana paired with 2012 Merlot; Liberty Farm Duck with cherry and mushroom duxelle, rutabaga paired with 2013 Red Blend “Coeur de Vigne”; Rib Eye with variations of broccoli with walnut paired with 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon; and a Cheese course including Mt.
