Wiltern goes back in time when the waves were tasty and everything was rad, dude. Come dressed up to watch the 80s classic Fast Times At Ridgemont High! photo l.a. Celebrates 25th Anniversary
The 25th annual international photographic art exposition photo l.a. is the city’s longest-running art fair and brings together leading galleries, museums, universities, and nonprofit organizations for a showcase of photographic art from around the world, from 19th Century masterpieces to contemporary, cutting-edge photography-based work. Pacific Design Center’s Winter Art Season Launch
PDC’s national arts program, designLAb (in its fifth year), is excited to debut a series of 16 cutting-edge arts, architecture & design, sound and taste exhibitions, and several one-night-only performances. MOCA PDC opens the same night with a contemporary photography exhibition, Catherine Opie: 700 Nimes Road (for MOCA Members at 7 pm). designLAb’s opening event will be on view in the PDC’s Blue Building Lobby and Second Floor Galleries. The evening’s highlights include several one-night-only performances: Industry Gallery presents Steve Boyer’s Tasting Bar with samplings of exotic, highly-concentrated bitters in the context of his ongoing digital exhibit, Drawing Agents. LA-based artist Steve Roden will create a one-hour live performance beginning at 8 pm at Young Projects Gallery. designLAb’s winter exhibition series includes Christopher W. Mount Gallery’s early photographs by Bernd and Hilla Becher, acclaimed German photographers who influenced a new generation of artists as well as Drawings Lie, the first commercial debut of work by architectural visionary, Bryan Cantley. Cantor Fine Art presents 3D portraits by contemporary artists Andrew Myers, Michael Mapes and Kerry Miller. CMay Gallery exhibits works by mixed media artists Bahk Seon Ghi, Shana Mabari and a video piece from the gallery’s collection by Connie Samaras. Anthony James Studio presents his own evocative, new large-scale sculpture. Thomas Paul Fine Art will show new works by Parisian abstract figurative painter, Nushka. Butcher’s Daughter Opens
At The Butcher’s Daughter, they treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would meat. They chop, fillet and carve fresh produce into heathy vegetarian dishes and press them into juices. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, they take pride in their daily-changing menu, which is 100% vegetarian and non-dairy. Made in Brooklyn Opens
Chef, Owner and native Brooklynite Sean Popock is cooking up pies with fresh, high-quality ingredients, along with the house-made tomato sauce, sausage, meatballs and pizza dough all on his truck. Offering pizza, heroes, garlic knots and salads for lunch and dinner, this truck is larger than your average food truck due to its double-deck pizza ovens. They are also teaching you how to eat the pizza with their slogan: “Hold it. Fold it. Eat it.” So get ready to eat pizza without utensils. The menu has New York pizza pies with toppings including Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms and Peppers & Onions, as well as regional favorites like the PPP (Pulled Pork Pizza), Margherita, Artichoke Pesto and Buffalo Chicken. Hero sandwiches include the House-made Meatball Parmigiana, House-Made Sausage, Peppers & Onions, BBQ Chicken, and Caprese. You can customize your pizza and hero orders by adding additional fresh cheese, meat and vegetable toppings.
