Mixology101

Mixology101 (6333 W 3rd St, Ste O20, Los Angeles, 90036; 323.370.6560) a big, airy spot for outdoor drinking is opening Monday above the intersection between the Grove and the Farmers Market.

Grab a seat with a view. There are windows everywhere, so that should be easy. As the name explains, this place is more focused on the drinks and less on the food. (my kinda place). Order up a Poolside Brass (gin, coconut water, elderflower and prosecco), it will keep you hydrated while you try the rest of the menu. They also serve up Maestro’s Special Fizz (Capri Natura Limoncello, lemon sorbet, fresh mint, prosecco) and Farmers Martini (choice of frozen Tanqueray 10 or Stoli Elit, blue curacao, Salvatore’s Bitters, Champagne). Honestly, the drink list is probably the longest I have ever seen. It’s divided into sections like Champagne Cocktails, Classic Cocktails, Pre-dinner Cocktails, Martini Cocktails, Short & Sublime, Long & Luscious, Non-Alcoholic Cocktails and After Dinner Cocktails. They have everything from old-school classics (Vieux Carré) to modern inventions like the Breakfast Martini, with orange marmalade. I won’t judge if you order it for breakfast.

The menu, food menu that is, focuses on local/market driven produce. Selections include Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Kobe Beef Sliders, Blackened Ahi, Crab & Lobster Cakes, Caprese Sliders and Tamales.
