On Friday, October 21st, Claris Health held its annual fundraiser, the City Lights Gala. The goal of the evening was to raise funds to continue providing holistic care for the people of Los Angeles and worldwide. More than just a women’s clinic, Claris Health offers clarity through free of charge and affordable medical care, counseling, education, and ongoing support in areas of unintended pregnancy, sexual and emotional health, and more. The Skirball Cultural Center was the setting for the powerful evening in which hundreds of attendees heard firsthand transformative stories celebrating the lives impacted through Claris Health.
The theme of the evening was hope, and there was not a dry eye in the house as the Claris guest speakers recounted their appreciation for Claris and the hope it restored in their lives. We heard stories of perseverance from a woman who received parenting education and counseling, allowing her to be a better mother. We witnessed the power of adoption and the tears of joy that flew from the newly adopted father’s eyes. We listened to a moving spoken word performance by Marquesha Babers and were serenaded by singer Nikko Dumas-Lowe, who reminded us to remain hopeful because brighter days are ahead. What was the most moving to me was the call to action of those who’ve been helped by Claris to pay it forward and help others. Claris isn’t just a means of support; it’s a movement of hope and love.
The gala concluded with a lively social hour, a decadent dessert table, and more cocktails and dancing. The evening was a true celebration of life, hope, and love. If you would like to help Claris continue transforming lives, you can get involved through volunteering, partnerships, or donation.
