E.T. + Fireworks

This classic has a young boy, Elliott, protecting his new best friend/brother from an alien mother. Celebrate July 4th with E.T. Their concessions stand will be stocked with kettle corn, soft drinks, and (of course) Reese’s Pieces. July Fourth at the Marina

One of LA’s most impressive fireworks displays takes place over the water, so you can catch the action either from the beach or nearby Burton Chace Park or Fisherman’s Village. Fisherman’s Village will be blasting music synchronized to the fireworks. County parking lots in the marina will be charging between $7 – $15, and from there you can catch the Beach Shuttle (which only runs till 8 pm), or the WaterBus which goes till midnight. AmericaFest at Rose Bowl Stadium

Grand Park + The Music Center’s Fourth of July Block Party

Enjoy nine acts — including ska/reggae band The Delirians, African-global beats DJ Blaq Pages, and singer-songwriter Victoria La Mala, as they will take over two stages throughout the day. Expect food trucks, games, and other activities at the (alcohol-free) event that will conclude just after the fireworks end, right around 9:30pm. Free; 200 North Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Dignity Health Sports Park

If soccer’s more your bag, head to this Cal State campus stadium to watch a Major League Soccer match between LA Galaxy and Toronto FC. Dodgers Stadium

Fourth of July Fireworks at Seaside Lagoon

Get to Seaside Lagoon early for all-day activities like arts and crafts, swimming and a special Ruby’s Diner menu beginning at 2 pm and concluding after the fireworks end around 10 pm. Independence Day also coincides with opening night for the Redondo Beach Summer of Music concert series, so you can check out a performance by indie rock band Big Mess from 6-8 pm on the pier. $25, $15/children; Thursday, 2 pm; 137 N. Palisades Fourth of July Parade, Concert and Fireworks

Start your celebration with a parade starting at on Sunset Boulevard in the middle of town. At 4 pm, the Palisades Charter High School campus hosts Palisades Rocks the Fourth, a concert featuring local musicians, kids’ activities, and food trucks, with performers taking the stage at 6 pm, culminating in a fireworks spectacular set to music. $10 – $50; Thursday, parade: 1 pm, fireworks: 9 pm; 15777 Bowdoin St, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272

Hollywood Bowl

El Segundo Fourth of July Celebration

Join in a daytime celebration featuring good old-fashioned activities like a hula-hoop contest and watermelon-eating contest along with community booths and concessions. That evening, the Main Street Band will perform at Stevenson Field beginning at 5 pm, culminating with a fireworks show. Catch a display from the Los Angeles County Courthouse parking lot or the Toyota Sports Complex, where you can view for free and grab a spot on the synthetic turf field.
