Bar Moruno Brunch, Baby

Bar Moruno launches Saturday brunch. Let’s start with everyone’s favorite part of brunch: booze. I had no idea what a Bull Shot was until Chef Chris Feldmeier shared the wonderful combo that is vodka, sherry, and beef bone broth, the addition of which makes it a wellness drink, doesn’t it? (I’m joking, and we should never make claims that booze is healthy). You can even add beef bone broth to their “Big Mike’s Bloody Mary,” which turns it into “Big Mike’s Bloody Bull.” They also have a Nitro Negroni, which fulfills one of the eight cups of coffee one might have on a Saturday as well as a beautiful spritz made with passion fruit. Chef Chris was once again challenged to create a menu of dishes that could be made in the woodfired oven that anchors Bar Moruno, but necessity is the mother of invention and delicious brunch dishes. Case in point: A Wood-Oven Baked Hoe Cake which comes in its own little cast iron skillet, as does the Shakshouka made with organic eggs, roasted tomato, onion, and piquillo peppers, and the robust Spinach & Feta Frittata. Generous chunks of roasted chicken are the star of a colorful salad with pink lady apples, radishes, and feta; and the oven gives a crisp brûléed top to the Roasted Grapefruit with Earl Grey Yogurt. $12+; Saturdays, 11:00 am – 2:30 pm; 3705 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026; 323.546.0505

So all you have to do is grab a cute brunch outfit and your date, and get ready to indulge in fun, good food, and drinks. Cheers!
