Downtown LA’s Here and Now has transformed their cool, laidback bar into Blitzen’s – a holly, jolly, Christmas Popup! From now through December 31st, Here and Now will resemble a Winter Wonderland, complete with merry costumes, holiday music, festive decor, and holiday themed drinks and bites.
This is the owner’s favorite time of the year and she wants to extend her love of the holidays with all guests. The menu has been updated to include cleverly titled holiday libations such as: You Go. Glenn Cocoa hot chocolate, Get Blitzen’d, made with Tequila, Fino, Sweet Vermouth, Lemon, Falemum and Prosecco, Put On Your Yarmulke, with Monkey Shoulder, Manischewitz, Grapefruit Cordial, Allspice Dram, Aquafaba, Lime, Bitters, Elf’s Breakfast with Becherovka, Licor 43, and Lucky Charm Cream, and my personal favorite, Welcome to the Party Pal, a hot mulled wine with cognac and orange spices.
Specialty drinks aren’t the only holiday items at Blitzen’s. Guests can enjoy the Christmas Poutine with pulled turkey, house gravy, cheese curds and bay leaf cranberries. Chickpea and Potato Latkes and Santa’s Salad with bitter greens, sherry cranberries, roasted squash, pecorino and ricotta salata have also been added to the menu.
For your entertainment pleasure, sing along with the holiday music (I sure did) while enjoying the dancing Santas. Blitzen’s has several theme parties so get ready for, drag queen bingo, a re-gift your sh*t gift party, and an adorable puppy pageant. Where else will you get the chance to dress your pooch up in the cutest holiday wear. On Sunday nights, come in your favorite PJs and bring a warm blanket as you sit out back by the fire pit watching these holiday classics; Elf, Home Alone and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
The holidays are also about giving, and Blitzen’s has partnered with PATH (PEOPLE ASSISTING THE HOMELESS) to make sure everyone receives a little holiday cheer. Bring a quart size Ziploc filled with toiletries (travel size only please) and you will receive one cup of punch. For a complete list of suggested items, refer to the website.
