Viva LA Foodbowl

This Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times Foodbowl kicked off their #31DaysofFood with Mesamerica L.A. and the DFiesta, a perfect celebration of the LA food scene. Mesamerica LA, chef Enrique Olvera and LA Food editor Peter Meehan’s symposium featuring talks and live performance from La Marisoul & Friends, commemorates the 50th anniversary of sister cities Los Angeles and Mexico City.

The party was just getting started when DFiesta took over the Grand Central Market, where a ticketed reserved event featured curated offerings from Don Vergas Mariscos, the Oyster Gourmet, Los Panchos, Sari Sari Store, Petty Cash, Guerrilla Tacos, and Horsethief BBQ as well as roving mariachi bands. Other Grand Central Market vendors that were open were Villa Moreliana, La Tostaderia and Guelaguetza. As if that wasn’t enough, La Cita Bar continued the festivities with Tacos 1986 and Jose Cuervo for the rest of the night.

As #31DaysofFood suggests, food events, both paid and free, are being held throughout the rest of the month all around the city.  You definitely don’t want to miss the Night Market where vendors and DJ’s will take over Grand Park in downtown for five nights from May 8-12 (free during certain hours, paid tickets for VIP).
