Viviane, located in the gorgeous Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills now offers brunch in the most perfect chic and mid-century modern California setting from 7 am-3 pm, Saturday and Sunday. Viviane features a California interpretation of classic European and American cuisine and their indoor/outdoor space was designed by Kelly Wearstler. The sleek vintage oasis has authentic 1950s-60s collection of vintage furniture and the space is the perfect respite from Los Angeles’ busy lifestyle.
My friend, who was visiting from Florida, and I headed to Viviane for Sunday brunch and grabbed a table poolside. The retro restaurant is a quiet place to catch up with friends and relax with a delicious glass of bubbly. The menu has classic brunch dishes with a healthy and fresh twist. We started off with the Carmen Miranda smoothie, which is made with banana, strawberry, and mango. Unlike some smoothies, made with a ton of yogurt or milk, this smoothie was refreshing without weighing you down. We also tasted the Breakfast Sandwich with scrambled eggs, bacon, arugula, tomato, roasted tomato pesto, gruyère, and mixed greens; the Açai Bowl filled with pineapple, strawberry, papaya, coconut, granola, mulberry, gogi berry, and coastal honey; Fish Tacos with blackened salmon, roasted corn salsa, cabbage, and mama lil’s pepper aioli; and The Vegetable Sandwich made with avocado, roasted carrot, tomato, onion sprout, onion chive spread, on multigrain.
Every dish was bright and unique. My favorite, the vegetable sandwich was hearty and full of flavors that balance each other perfectly. The açai bowl was a nice sweet mix among the savory dishes, while the breakfast sandwich and the fish tacos both had light twists in dishes that usually can be heavy or greasy. We loved every bite and the great service in the intimate setting.
Whether you reserve one of the long outdoor private tables for a brunch full of friends, pick an exclusive spot by the pool, or sit in the stylish restaurant, Viviane’s brunch is the spot for a brunch full of delicious food, drinks, in a mid-century California vibe.
