Delicatessen by Osawa Opens
This contemporary Japanese style delicatessen is the first of its kind in Los Angeles and is from the owners of Osawa, Sayuri Tachibe and Executive Chef Shigefumi Tachibe.  Executive Chef Tetsuya Osaki, appointed by Chef Shigefumi Tachibe, is behind deli selections like the Organic Mixed Seaweed; Potato & Edamame seasoned with wasabi mustard sauce and topped with micro wasabi; Sweet & Spicy Marinated Tofu topped with ginger flavored Japanese eggplant and Anaheim chili, dressed with soy sake dashi and gochujang; or Renkon Kinpira, a mix of fresh burdock roots, lotus roots, konnyaku, mizuna, carrot, onion & celery dressed with spicy sesame sauce. Soups include Miso Soup and Ginger Carrot soup, along with hot items like Potato Croquette; Crab Cream Croquette; Kushi Pork Katsu, thinly sliced pork tenderloin lightly fried and covered in panko; and the Organic Chicken Karaage, Japanese style fried chicken, served with spicy sriracha sauce. Entrée Salads include Tuna Tataki Salad; Organic Crunchy Chicken Salad; and the Fried Shrimp Soba Noodle Salad. Rice bowls include Chicken Oyako Don, with a lightly seasoned mix of egg, chicken and onions on steamed rice and the Sukiyaki Don with a mix of beef, tofu, shitake mushroom and spinach in sweet soy sake sauce on top of steamed rice. Katsuya Glendale Social Hour
Katsuya’s Glendale store, located at The Americana, has launched a new Social Hour. The new menu offers specialty cocktails for $7 including the Watermelon Cucumber Mojito and White Grapefruit Cosmopolitan, as well as dishes such as Spicy Wings, Fried Calamari, Shrimp Sliders, and Kakuni Pork Sliders. Katsuya signatures offered include the Baker Crab Hand Roll, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Rock Shrimp Tempura, and rolls such as Double Ebi Roll and Hawaiian Roll. One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival

Jessica Largey Cooks at Rustic Canyon

St. Jude and RA Sushi are on a Roll for Nicky’s Week
This month, RA Sushi chefs will roll out a special new menu featuring more than a dozen sushi and Asian fusion dishes and drinks for its annual Nicky’s Week celebration. The is teaming up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® to donate 100 percent of sales from the special menu to help find cures for childhood cancers and other life-threatening diseases. The 13th annual Nicky’s Week honors the life of Nicholas Mailliard, who lost his battle with pediatric cancer in 2005 at the age of 13. Nicky was the nephew of Rich Howland, one of RA Sushi’s founders. His battle with cancer deeply impacted the RA Sushi family and inspired the annual event benefiting St. Jude. The Nicky’s Week menu, includes the Tootsy Maki Roll, Garlic Ponzu Yellowtail, ”RA”ckin Shrimp Tacos and Poke Tacos and more. Gratitude Beverly Hills Opens
Gratitude, Café Gratitude’s upscale sister restaurant, opens its doors in Beverly Hills. Similar to the original Newport Beach location, Gratitude Beverly Hills offers an elevated dining experience, while sharing the same approach to the ingredient-focused menu as Café Gratitude. Gratitude Beverly Hills serves locally sourced ingredients and thoughtfully prepared dishes inspired by the abundance of seasonal produce available at the farmer’s market. The 100% organic plant-based menu created by Executive Chef Dreux Ellis includes favorites such as the I Am Liberated Pad Thai kelp noodles and Elated Mole enchiladas, while also offering Beverly Hills specific specials. To pair, Beverage Director Jason Eisner has created a 100% organic beverage program that proves wellness and cocktails. The Rooftop at Michael’s On Naples Guest Chef Carlos Salgado of Taco Maria
Chef Eric Samaniego invites Chef Carlos Salgado into the kitchen for a culinary playdate. Chef Salgado is a Michelin-starred chef raised in Orange County and his restaurant Taco Maria is known for its Alta California cuisine, a fusion of Mexican and American cultures. Chef Samaniego never reveals what he and his guest chef will prepare simply because he’s not quite sure himself.  The evening tends to be spontaneous, much like going to a friend’s home for dinner and leaving the menu up to the host. Both chefs will shop the local farmers’ markets and visit Farm Lot 59, the local urban farm, for ingredients just days before, which will drive the creativity of their five-course dinner.
