CicLAvia heads back to the Valley for the second time. This time, they’ll be exploring Pacoima, Arleta, North Hills East, and Panorama City! You can also join the CicLAvia Kickoff Ceremony with Danny Trejo at 8:30 am at Pacoima City Hall. Mayor Eric Garcetti, Valley Councilmembers Nury Martinez and Felipe Fuentes, and local resident, actor and entrepreneur Danny Trejo, known for his roles in movies such as “Machete” and “From Dusk Till Dawn,” will be in attendance. Metro Art Presents: Music for Train Stations with dublab
Every Friday in March, Union Station will host ambient performers and DJs when they team up with dublab on a month-long sound series, “Music for Train Stations.” The program is inspired by Brian Eno’s 1978 ambient masterpiece, “Music for Airports,” which was designed with the intent of defusing the tense, anxious atmosphere of an airport terminal with loops of subtle sound including piano, voice and other instruments. Our program is both an homage to Eno and a contemporary interpretation of his concept applied within the frenetic energy and architectural splendor of Union Station. DJ set by Ale with a live performance by The Tenses, an innovative L.A. act known for performances in which a room or space influences the unfolding organized and spontaneous sounds. Esters Wine Shop & Bar‘s Wine Tastings
Held every Sunday (except for Easter), drop in anytime within that two-hour window to experience the tasting at your own pace. Donut Farm Opens
One of California’s few organic vegan bakeries, is now open in Silver Lake. Donut Farm uses 100% organic ingredients with artisanal glazes created from seasonal and local fruits and vegetables. Donut Farm is the product of donut-obsessed San Francisco native, Josh Levine who started making donuts out of his kitchen. Over time, Levine developed his vegan donut recipe and started a wholesale distribution company under the name Pepples Donut Farm in 2007. In 2010, Donut Farm opened its first location in Oakland and shortly after, Donut Farm opened a retail kiosk in the iconic Ferry Building Marketplace in San Francisco. Expanding again in 2014, Donut Farm opened a location in Berkeley, adding a small bakery line of muffins, scones and yam rolls. Donut Farm’s menu features classic favorites and seasonal flavors that rotate with local farmers market produce. Inventive flavor highlights include Salted Caramel, Lavender Earl Grey, Philz Coffee, Matcha Green Tea,Roasted Red Chili, Whiskey Tangerine Fig (WTF), Mexican Hot Chocolate, Blueberry, Lemon Poppy Seed,Coconut Whiteout, Strawberry, Apple and Banana Fritters.
