New Year’s Race
New Year’s Race is one of Los Angeles’ best night running races! You can kick off the New Year with a healthy start and participate in the Kids Fun Run as a family, or in the 5k, 10k or the Half Marathon. The Half Marathon is the only race that takes you through Dodger Stadium on the warning track, and once you make it up in to the hills of Elysian Park, you’ll earn spectacular views of the DTLA lights below. Listed as one of Runner’s World magazine’s best post-race parties, New Year’s Race is festive and fun for everyone in attendance. All runners are welcomed into the finish line with cheering crowds and sparkling lights, and once in the celebration zone you’ll be treated to great food vendor options, a courtesy, dancing and a DJ, as well as activities for both kids and adults. New in 2016 is the Doubleheader Challenge, which combines a 5k or 10k and the Half Marathon in the same night! The challenge is open to 1,000 runners, and finishers will earn three separate medals. New Year’s Race supports the Los Angeles-based non-profit, A Place Called Home, by donation matching. A Place Called Home provides South Central children and teens, ages 8 to 21, with love, safety, enrichment, training and opportunities through educational programs, counseling and mentorship.
