Rooftops are always hot for summer. Well, try basements this year because Downstairs @ Fifty Seven, (712 S Santa Fe Ave., 213.816.8157) is a new dimly lit, lower level lounge for live performances and cocktails opening tonight.

Head to Fifty Seven for dinner and afterwards head downstairs where you’ll find a basement, bare-boned esthetic with steel beams, wooden tables, cement floors, exposed pipes, black walls and candles. They will have artist residencies, musical performances, lectures, salons and arts & culture events.
