Dirty Laundry

Houston Brothers enterprise is rolling out Dirty Laundry (6531 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, 90028; 323.462.6531), a basement spot inside the legendary Hudson Building with arched brick ceilings, tiled walls, Edison light bulbs, and frozen bacon Manhattans. The building recently went under some restoration and now meets the standards of the National Historic Registry. Built in 1917 by the legendary Jesse Lasky, it neighbors Dirty Laundry’s brother bar, No Vacancy and one housed a speakeasy where Rudolph Valentino and Mae West hung out. Jonnie and Mark Houston (La Descarga) have gotten David Purcell, Mark Daoust and little fork’s Dino Balocchi behind the bar.

As of tomorrow, head here for curious cocktails (Cactus-pear mint juleps with Pop Rocks or punch bowls full of sage-infused ice brick.) and a dance floor with rock and hip-hop.
