Say bye bye to Papaya King, it’s now the front room of the hidden Sayers Club (1645 Wilcox Ave., Los Angeles, 90028; 323.871.8233). It’s sbe’s dark, sexy spot that’s now officially opening. Starting your evening a little early by stepping into a dark place full of mirrors, blue velvet, and a bar made from reclaimed wood. Oh, an a guitar signed by the Black Keys. They open at 6 pm, so you can get here right after work. Plus, they have live music, starting at 8:30 pm.
Order up a pesto salad pizza (made in their wood burning pizza oven); tempura green beans with lemon aioli; and crispy stuffed dates with Merguez sausage. You’ll need it to soak up the round of Mexican Firing Squads, made with tequila, lime and pomegranate grenadine. They also have craft beer on draft in addition to their cocktails.
