Settebello

Marina del Rey joins Pasadena in getting a branch of  the Neapolitan pizzeria Settebello (13455 Maxella Ave., Marina del Rey; 310.306.8204). Marshall Projects is behind the restaurant’s rustic, weathered wooden aesthetic that runs through all their establishments. New to the Marina del Rey location, is a full bar with additional cocktails and a larger wine list.

Settebello is different from other pizzerias in that they have the Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) certification. This means they meet Italian standards of quality based on technique and raw ingredients. Their simple pizzas are fired in a 900° oven for about one minute. How’s that for fast? That means you’ll have your Margherita; Diavola (crushed tomatoes, Finnochiona (peppered salame), roasted red bell peppers, crushed Red Peppers, garlic, Mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil); Quattro Formaggi (Four Cheese); Pizza Carbonara (crushed tomatoes, pancetta, egg, Mozzarella, cracked pepper, extra virgin olive oil); Capricciosa (crushed Tomatoes, Prosciutto Cotto, artichoke hearts, roasted mushrooms, olives, Mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil); Vico (wood oven sausage, sauteed fennel, red onions, mascarpone, Mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil); and your Emilia (prosciutto cotto, panna (Italian cream), Mozzarella, Parmigiano Reggiona, basil, extra virgin olive oil) faster than ever.

They also have Antipasti like Focaccia; Caprese; Panzanella (house made croutons, cherry tomato, prosciutto crisps, red onion, fennel, cucumber, basil, arugula, shaved Parmigiano Reggiano, red wine vinaigrette); Involtini di Prosciutto (prosciutto crudo wrapped around baby arugula and goat cheese, topped with goat cheese, shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, balsamic reduction and extra virgin olive oil); and Misto (a sampling of Italian style meats, vegetables and cheese).
