Two of LA’s destinations have partnered up to celebrate Halloween with an urban oasis.  It’s a conveniently located one-stop-shop to spend some quality time and gather, carve, and decorate pumpkins for the season. Platform, the newest experience in fashion, food, art and design from the tastemakers behind Runyon Group, and Au Fudge, the community-minded creative space for family-friendly fun are bringing you pumpkin carving, face painting, arts & crafts by seedling, exclusive gifts and accessories curated by Au Fudge, candy shop, food curated by Smorgasburg. Tengoku Ramen Bar Opens
Kabuki owner and operators, Kaizen Dining Group, launch new ramen concept Tengoku Ramen Bar in Arcadia, Los Angeles. Serving contemporary and artisanal ramen, using high quality, house made broth and MSG free ingredients, Tengoku Ramen Bar combines the traditional elements of Asian comfort food with value and innovation. Designed by architect David Chun, of Chun Studio, Tengoku Ramen Bar has an aesthetic inspired by the historical origin of ramen. An elongated and narrow space, the restaurant is designed to portray an outdoor seating area in the thick of an urban metropolis, replicating Japan. Helmed by Japanese Kaiseki-trained Executive Chef Masa Kurihara, Tengoku Ramen Bar showcases both modern and longstanding techniques. Ramen selections include Shoyu soy based with marinated boiled egg, pork belly, bamboo shoots, Japanese leek, seaweed, and scallions; Tonkotsu soy based pork broth with marinated boiled egg, pork belly, wood ear mushrooms, fresh ginger, sesame garlic oil, garlic chips, seaweed, and scallions; and Spicy Miso spicy miso broth with marinated boiled egg, pork belly, sweet corn, bean sprouts, sesame seeds, spicy tempura flakes, scallions. Small plates include Brussels Sprouts sautéed with kimchi; Kurobuta Sausage black Berkshire pork sausage served with gourmet ketchup, and mustard sauce; Sizzling Chashu Pork braised pork belly served on a hot skillet with onion, and shredded scallions; and Shishamo whole grilled smelt served with sea salt, and shichimi. There’s also a selection of salads and greens, including the Ramen Salad with chilled ramen noodles, pork belly, gourmet spring mix, grape tomatoes, boiled egg, and Japanese leek; and Seafood Seaweed Salad with marinated seaweed, shredded crab, shrimp, grape tomatoes with soy vinaigrette. Ravello Bar & Grill Opens
After an eight-month trip along Italy’s Amalfi Coast, Michael Burkhardt was inspired to bring the traditional regional cuisine and hospitality to Los Angeles. He called former colleague, Patrick Kolanoski, to join in his idea and Kolanoski is the General Manager. The kitchen is helmed by Executive Chef Carlos Escalante who brings 25+ years of cooking at some of Pasadena’s restaurants. The menu includes antipasti, homemade pastas, Neapolitan-style brick oven-baked pizzas, grilled meats, fresh seafood, and desserts that incorporate sustainably grown produce from local farms. Menu highlights include a linguini alla vongole with littleneck clams, fresh herbs, shallots, and a seafood broth with chardonnay butter; and the grilled ribeye steak topped with a stripe of brandied Kalamata olives and garlic capers. To go with your meal, there is an extensivelist of affordable Italian and Californian varietals available by the glass or bottle. Sweet Rose Creamery Studio City Patio Movie Nights
Sweet Rose Creamery’s Studio City location in the Tujunga Village neighborhood continues their first annual movie series with Halloween-themed films. This is a great opportunity to catch these free classics, located at the shop’s backyard heated patio. Manuela Opens for Lunch
Manuela, the restaurant opened in the Hauser Wirth & Schimmel arts complex helmed by Chef Wes Whitsell, is now open for lunch. Heavily influenced by Chef Whitsell’s culinary roots and upbringing in rural North Texas, the menu highlights artisanal techniques including in-house smoking, fermenting, preserving and pickling, and celebrates locally-sourced seasonal ingredients. Utilizing his strong relationships with farms throughout Southern California, Manuela’s menu is centered around locally-grown produce, seafood and grass-fed livestock. Tam O’Shanter hosts Wine Pairing Dinner with Sean Minor Wines
The Tam O’Shanter is hosting a very special four course wine pairing dinner highlighting award-winning Sean Minor Winery. Featured wines include 2015 Sean Minor Sauvignon Blanc, California (with a mozzarella and beet terrine appetizer); 2014 Sean Minor Pinot Noir, Central Coast (with a garlic shrimp salad garnished with radicchio, walnuts and pickled radish); 2013 Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley (with the main entree of braised short ribs, sweet potato, kale and salsa verde); and 2013 H. Rise of the Jack O’ Lanterns
At Rise of the Jack O’ Lanterns, 5,000 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins line a walkway while a spooky soundtrack gets you into the Halloween spirit.
