Little Tokyo welcomes Wolf & Crane (366 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA 90012), a neighborhood bar from Michael Francesconi and Matthew Glaser. Named after animals from Aesop’s stories (Honshu Wolf and the Red-Crowned Crane), the space was designed by M&B Design (Megan Donnell, Brion Moran). The Honshu Wolf and the Red-Crowned Crane, in Japanese mythology, symbolize protection and luck/longevity, respectively. Let’s hope this place has all of these!
This spot is all about the drinks. As for house specialties, order up a Wolf & Crane, which is a shot of Johnnie Red & a Sapporo; Americano (Campari, Carpano, Soda); Biltmore (Tequila, Creme de Cassis, Fresh Lime, Soda); Baja Buck (Tequila, Fresh Lime and Grapefruit, Ginger Beer); Cuba Libra (Rum, Fresh Lime, Angostura Bitters, Mexican Coke); Fernet Pop (Fernet Branca, Carpano, Citrus Bitters, Root Beer); Gin Trap (Ransom Gin, Grapefruit Bitters, Tonic); Grey Wolf (Grey Goose, Fresh Grapefruit, Soda); Martin Ellis (Laird’s Applejack, Falernum, Barrel Aged Bitters, Cider); and Uptown (Rye, Cherry Herring, Angostura Bitters, Cola). There’s also local beer on tap, including Eagle Rock Brewery.
As for food, you can order up Japanese snacks or American cigarettes. Those are considered food, right? Open Monday-Friday, 5 pm-2 am and Saturday & Sunday from 1 pm-2 am. Happy hour is Monday-Friday, 5-7 pm.
