The Larchmont

The Larchmont, (5750 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, 90038; 323.464.4277) near Paramount Studios, is set in a home formerly used to house movie stars in the 1940’s. It is posh and intimate.

After we warmed up with some of their signature cocktails (the Mexican Tourist with Thai pepper if you like a kick, the Rose Elizabeth with chilean pisco if you don’t), our host and one of the owners, Spoon, led us through Executive Chef Cody Diegel’s incredible new fall menu. (Yes, his name really is Spoon. You are in good hands.) One by one, sides and entrees came out as we swarmed like moths to a flame, delighted in their beauty. That lasted all of five seconds when we couldn’t help but dig in. The flavorful branzino, a european seabass, was a highlight along with the scallops. I also enjoyed the pappardelle with beef short rib ragout, and the carrot ginger soup with Greek yogurt will leave you wanting more.  Finish it off with the deconstructed pumpkin pie, and you got yourself an unforgettable meal.
