September marks Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and this year’s celebration couldn’t have felt more timely. Some of entertainment’s most recognizable faces walked the runway in support of a cause that touches millions of men and their families, proving once again that fashion can be more than beautiful — it can be consequential.

Why Prostate Cancer Awareness Matters

Prostate cancer remains one of the most significant health concerns facing men today, and the statistics make the mission behind this event impossible to ignore. Black men are approximately 70% more likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer and twice as likely to die from the disease compared with White men. The good news? When caught early, the prostate cancer survival rate is remarkably high — which is exactly why events like the Blue Jacket Fashion Show exist: to get men talking, get them tested, and get ahead of a disease that is often treatable when detected in time.

Founded in 2016 by acclaimed designer Frederick Anderson and Laura Miller, the Blue Jacket Fashion Show has spent a decade proving that style and substance can walk the same runway. The now-iconic blue jacket has become a symbol of visibility, advocacy and action — a reminder that men’s health conversations belong front and center, not in the shadows.

A Night to Remember at The W Hollywood

Held at The W Hollywood Hotel, the evening was sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, with Bloomingdale’s bringing menswear back to the runway to showcase Fall 2026 trends from top designers carried in the Los Angeles market. The room was filled with energy, purpose and genuine connection — the kind of night where glamour and meaning sat comfortably side by side.

Highlights from the Show

The evening delivered no shortage of unforgettable moments. Dancing with the Stars pro Gleb Savchenko brought his signature charisma down the runway, while actor and model Sam Asghari turned heads going shirtless on the runway and sharing a kiss with girlfriend Brooke Irvine. Businesswoman Savannah James, wife of LeBron James, posed alongside actor Ricco Ross and his wife Julie with designer Frederick Anderson, capturing one of the night’s most photographed moments. Ian Ziering, known for 90210 and the Sharknado franchise, walked the carpet while promoting his new role as host of The Great American Road Rally. And Everett Osborne, star of Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? currently the #1 movie on Netflix, brought even more star power to an already electric evening.

Adding depth and purpose to the glamour, four leading physicians championing the fight against prostate cancer also walked in support of Johnson & Johnson and ZERO Prostate Cancer: Dr. Matthew Rettig (UCLA), Dr. Jun Gong (Cedars-Sinai), Dr. Przemyslaw Twardowski (Providence) and Dr. Daniel Daneshvar (UCI), with interviews conducted by Nazy Zomorodian, NP (UCLA).

A Personal, Full-Circle Moment

One of the evening’s most touching moments came during a conversation with Rodney Peete, former NFL quarterback and longtime advocate — as a lifelong Eagles fan, getting to talk football with a former Eagles QB felt like a genuine fan moment.

But the evening turned deeply personal during a separate conversation with actor and ZERO Prostate Cancer Global Ambassador Ricco Ross. He starred in Aliens, my favorite movie, one I watched countless times with my father, who passed away from cancer five years ago. It was a full-circle reminder of exactly why this cause matters so much.

Ross stressed a life-saving message throughout the night: “Go get checked! It’s so easy.” Early detection remains the single most powerful tool against prostate cancer, and the prostate cancer survival rate climbs dramatically when the disease is caught in its earliest stages. His passion for the cause was contagious, and his story added real weight to an already meaningful evening.

As the Blue Jacket Fashion Show marks ten years of impact, this Los Angeles celebration feels like the beginning of its next chapter — one where style, visibility and purpose remain inseparable.

FAQ

  • What is prostate cancer?: Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the prostate, a small gland in men that produces seminal fluid. This is why awareness campaigns like the Blue Jacket Fashion Show emphasize regular screening and early detection as life-saving priorities.
