The People Have Spoken: Witnessing the Powerful No Kings Protest Movement in Los Angeles

Today, Saturday June 14th, 2025, was one of those days that reminded me why I absolutely love living in Los Angeles. As I witnessed the incredible No Kings Protest movement sweep across our city, my heart was completely overwhelmed with the beauty of peaceful resistance and community solidarity. Donald Trump, please pay attention: We the people are HERE, and we are absolutely NOT backing down!

A City United: Peaceful Protests Across Los Angeles

What struck me most about today’s No Kings demonstrations was how they unfolded peacefully throughout every corner of our sprawling city. From downtown LA to the beaches of Santa Monica, from the hills of Los Feliz to the valleys beyond, Angelenos came together in a massive show of unity that transcended every boundary imaginable.

Millions of Americans participated in “No Kings” protests across the country today to denounce President Donald Trump’s policies, with demonstrations taking place as President Trump presided over a military parade in Washington, DC. But here in LA, something truly special happened – our community showed up in ways that gave me chills and filled my soul with hope.

Los Feliz Shows Out: The Trump Protest That Moved Hearts

I made my way to the Trump protest in Los Feliz, and let me tell you – Angelenos absolutely SHOWED OUT! The energy was electric, but more importantly, it was peaceful, purposeful, and incredibly moving. Families walked together holding signs, neighbors who had never spoken before were sharing snacks and water, and the diversity of voices coming together was absolutely breathtaking.

What I witnessed in Los Feliz wasn’t just a protest – it was a masterclass in community organizing and peaceful resistance. People of all ages, from toddlers in strollers to grandparents with walking canes, came together with one unified message about protecting our democratic values and human rights.

This Isn’t About Division – It’s About Human Rights

Here’s what I need everyone to understand about today’s No Kings Protest movement: this isn’t about color, race, ethnicity, religion, or sex. This is about human rights… PERIOD! The name itself – “No Kings” – speaks to fundamental American principles that transcend political party lines: the idea that no one person is above the law or beyond accountability. Walking through these peaceful demonstrations today, I saw the most beautiful cross-section of humanity united by shared values of dignity, justice, and constitutional democracy.

Peaceful Resistance as an Art Form

What made today’s protests so powerful wasn’t just the numbers (though they were impressive), but the intentional commitment to peaceful demonstration. Thousands protested across Los Angeles and nationwide Saturday against the Trump administration, with demonstrations organized by “No Kings” aiming to peacefully oppose perceived threats to democracy.

I watched as organizers continuously reminded participants about the importance of peaceful protest, as families shared food and water with strangers, and as diverse communities found common ground in their shared commitment to justice. This is what democracy looks like when it’s working – messy, beautiful, loud, and profoundly peaceful all at once.

The Power of Los Angeles Unity

Living in LA, we’re used to diversity – it’s literally the fabric of our city. But today felt different. Today, I witnessed that diversity transform into unified action. From the artists in Silver Lake to the families in Boyle Heights, from the students at UCLA to the workers in South LA, everyone came together with the same message: our democracy is worth fighting for, and we’ll do it peacefully and powerfully.

Los Angeles City Hall served as the site of the largest “No Kings” protest in Los Angeles on Saturday, but the energy radiated throughout every neighborhood. The Donald Trump administration’s policies may have sparked these demonstrations, but what I saw today was about so much more than one person – it was about the kind of country and community we want to be.

Moving Forward Together

As the sun set on this incredible day of peaceful protest, I felt more hopeful about our city and our democracy than I have in months. The No Kings Protest movement showed me that when push comes to shove, Angelenos will show up for each other and for our shared values.

Today wasn’t about anger or division – it was about love. Love for our neighbors, love for our constitution, love for the idea that every person deserves dignity and respect. That’s the Los Angeles I know and love, and that’s the America worth fighting for.

To everyone who participated in today’s peaceful demonstrations: thank you for showing me what courage looks like, what community feels like, and what hope sounds like when millions of voices join together in harmony.

We the people are here, we are united, and we are definitely not backing down. Today proved that when Los Angeles comes together peacefully and purposefully, we’re absolutely unstoppable.
