ORIGIN Korean BBQ Opens in Koreatown

Recently ORIGIN Korean BBQ, the newest concept from On6thAvenue Hospitality – the masterminds behind Quarters – has taken over former Koreatown favorite Baekjeong in Chapman Plaza. How does ORIGIN set itself apart from the rest of the crowded competition in LA? By using hot charcoal grills, original hand-made marinades, a comfortable yet modern interior reminiscent of 1960’s Seoul, and my favorites – a side of classic Corn Cheese and their Soybean Paste Beef Brisket Hot Pot with Ramen featuring their specialty house broth offered with each meal!

For the Special Set for two people ($95) you have a choice of the Beef Brisket, Thin Pork Belly, Marinated Short Ribs Patty or all Garlic Bone-in Short Ribs. The Marinated Short Ribs Patty (tteok-galbi) was interesting. It was inspired by a dish usually reserved for royalty since you eat it without eating the meat directly off the bones. It’s also topped with wasabi if preferred, but I can see some people loving or hating it. My favorite of the set was the Beef Brisket but I would love to try the Garlic Bone-in Short Ribs next time.

As any classic Korean BBQ restaurant should, ORIGIN has a selection of Soju, Korean Wine, Beer, and non-alcoholic beverages to pair refreshingly with the meats and of course, the Hot Pot!

ORIGIN is regularly serving lunch and dinner and is the perfect spot for date night, celebrations, and dinner with friends. Various prices; Sundays – Thursdays, 11:00 am – 12:00 am and Fridays – Saturdays, 11:00 am – 2:00 am; 3465 W 6th St #20, Los Angeles, CA 90020; 213.451.6067
