Orange County and Inland Empire’s Native Son is now open in DTLA. The restaurant pays homage to former DTLA staple, Modern Times Dankness Dojo with great food, curated beers from around the globe, wine-based cocktails & spritzes, and now their own brewed craft beer! Menu highlights include salads, burgers (all of which can be made vegan), desserts, and the mouthwatering Native Fries. Think Animal Fries but smothered in cajun seasoning, caramelized onions, and a homemade tangy Thousand Island dressing. Portuguese-inspired restaurant Caldo Verde invites you to a special one-night event. Chef Suzanne Goin curated a special menu of various dishes inspired by Oakland-based chef Tanya Holland’s third cookbook, California Soul. Holland’s cookbook features a collection of modern soul food with more than 80 seasonally inspired comfort-filled recipes that trace the roots of modern California soul food to the Great Migration. Chef Michael Mina’s Mother Tongue restaurant launches weekend brunch. Located within HEIMAT, the world’s first concept fitness club, Mother Tongue is known for serving comfort foods that nourish the body and mind. The new weekend brunch features Kuushi Oysters, Sweet Potato Latkes, Shakshuka, Avocado Toast, MTLA (eggs) Benedict, Tofu Scramble, Pacifico Striped Bass Crudo, Whole Grain Griddle Cakes, Breakfast Burger, as well as a platter of gluten-free pastries.
