Elevate Your Dining Experience at the Terrace at Onyx

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Santa Monica’s Hotel Shangri-La. Nestled feet from the beach and the famous Santa Monica Pier, Shangri-La is known for its contemporary art-deco decor, relaxing poolside lounge and sleek outdoor bar, Onyx. Always the innovative and dynamic leader, this boutique hotel has recently opened Terrace at Onyx- a chic rooftop restaurant, offering succulent dishes and picturesque ocean views.

According to General Manager Armond Khosrovyan, “Terrace at Onyx offers our guests an elevated dining experience that takes our culinary program one step further.” Beautiful Santa Monica serves as the perfect backdrop for this internationally-inspired, California-infused menu. Patrons can watch as the cooks prepare their dishes in the open kitchen, featuring Santa Monica’s only outdoor rooftop brick oven.

One of the specialties at Terrace, are the wood-fired  brick oven pizzas. Unlike traditional pies that are covered in mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce, diners can order the Prosciutto, Steak Salad, or Wild Tuna Salad pizzas. Executive Chef Jessica Bedolla understands food allergies can deter guests from ordering their favorite comfort food. To ensure anyone and everyone can eat the pies, Bedolla added options for gluten free crusts. Guests can choose from the original dough, cauliflower, or a chicken crust. Vegetarian and Vegan pizza options are also available.

Other menu items include: Roasted Vegetable Dip, a Sweet Ricotta Truffle Honey Spread, Caesar Salad, Short Rib Fries, Whole Red Snapper, Whole Branzino and  New York Steak. For dessert, I recommend the Shangri-La Sundae. This dessert features 80 ingredients, in honor of the 80th anniversary. The sundae has something for everyone. From the 24 scoops of ice cream, vanilla sponge cake, slices of strawberries, mango, pineapple, kiwi, marshmallows, crispy meringue and more, your sweet tooth will definitely be satisfied. For those who want a night cap instead, sip vintage martinis made tableside from the mobile martini cart.

Hotel Shangri-La invites you to dine at Terrace at Onyx. The restaurant is now open for lunch, dinner and my favorite, weekend brunch.
