The Pikey’s New Menu with Indian Influences from Executive Chef Robert Flaherty

For seven years, The Pikey has been perched along the Sunset Strip pleasing customers with their classic English pub cuisine and delicious drinks. Recently this popular pub acquired new Executive Chef Robert Flaherty. Flaherty had a bold idea, update the menu by adding more fresh produce and incorporating Indian flavors and spices throughout the dishes.

Stepping into The Pikey, you are transported into medieval England. The walls are covered in English-style crests and banners with dragons and horses. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, like myself, The Pikey seems to bring the show to life with the ambiance and flair.

Chef Flaherty strategically left classic items such as the Fish and Chips and Classic Burger untouched as he updated the menu. His goal was to focus on seasonal produce and the new menu displays several dishes with produce as the star. The Pikey’s Manchurian Cauliflower with Red Pepper Jam and Crispy Quinoa is packed with an array of flavors that leave you wanting more. So much more in fact that I cleaned my bowl. Next up were the Lentil and Sweet Potato Cakes with Raisin Chutney and Raita. This was one of my favorite dishes as the sweet/savory combo creates a delicious explosion of taste in your mouth – flavorful and delightful!

I was in the mood for something a bit tangy. I opted for the Garlic Shrimp Aquachile and Avocado. Picture this, jumbo shrimp smothered in a sauce of chili peppers, lime juice, salt, cilantro and avocado. The shrimp was tender and juicy and the avocado melted on my tongue. Another must have appetizer are the Hot Chicken Bites with Bread and Butter Pickles. Can you
ever go wrong with anything paired with pickles?

For the main course, the Smoked Lamb Ribs with Mango Lime Chutney and Vinegar Glaze did not disappoint. The Pikey is known for satisfying their customers with nice size meals. Be prepared to sink your teeth into a nice hearty portion of lamb ribs drenched in a succulent glaze. Hungry yet?

You can’t go to an English Pub without eating a staple of English culture – the Fish and Chips. Fish and chips seasoned and fried to perfection and perfect for dipping in tartar sauce. This dish is a Pikey favorite and will remain my go-to meal here.

A self-proclaimed sweets lover, I had to try The Pikey’s desserts. Choose from the sticky toffee pudding, panna cotta nut crumble, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, or the Tahini swirled brownie, sesame caramel with vanilla ice cream! I’m salivating remembering the heavenly sweet treats.

So the next time you are sitting down to watch Game of Thrones, log into Postmates or DoorDash and order an authentic English feast from The Pikey. If the episode does not go the way you want, at least your taste buds will be satisfied.
