Totoyama Sushi and Ramen, led by head chef Yukinari Yamamoto, is less than a year old and quickly making fans providing an authentic Japanese dining experience that’s incredibly affordable. Located in the heart of Hollywood conveniently across from the W Hotel next to the Pantages theater, Totoyama is the only restaurant in LA that serves aburi sushi, which means “flame seared“, where they put flame on the sushi, subtly enhancing the flavor and texture.
The menu also features several sushi, sashimi, tempura, and omakase combinations (chef’s choice, which serves customized dishes of their favorites) which are also reasonably priced and will satisfy any craving. You don’t want to sleep on the ramen though. It’s good enough to stand next to the best in LA let alone be in the name of the restaurant (I suggest the Tonkotsu, spicier the better). Besides the two-hour free parking, they also have a daily happy hour 4-7 pm and a late night happy hour 10-close. What else do you need? Whether grabbing a bite before catching a concert or out late after getting your drink on, there’s never a bad time to go to Totoyama.
