Pizza Fest
In December, the art of pizza-making made international headlines, when the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognized the Art of Neapolitan Pizzaiolo as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. To celebrate this recognition, LA, Grow!, an annual community event that focuses on healthy eating and urban agriculture, and L.A. Times Food Bowl are bringing pizza makers from all over the world to the Hollywood Palladium for the pizza fest! This event showcases over 20 food vendors, alongside photo booth, sponsorship booths in the venues parking lot, lobby, and ballroom. During the course of the day, there will be cooking workshops, cooking demos, panel discussions, and a DJ spinning music. Appearances of many special guests including top pizza chefs Enzo Coccia, Nancy Silverton, Zach Pollack, Tony Gemignani, Daniele Uditi, L.A. At Goya Studios in Hollywood, a “magical secret garden,” created by L.A.-based artist Greg Ito, awaits inside a customized cube. One Colorado Silent Prom

Rent that tux and fluff up your crinoline for One Colorado’s Silent Prom! They’ll have all the prom fixings including a DJ, prom pics from a MirMir photo booth, and Jeffery Bowman of Bingo Boy fame as the evening’s M.C. and event attaché. Opening for One Colorado’s Silent Prom will be music by Flogging Seagulls performing ‘80s covers with their trademark Irish instruments. Following Flogging Seagulls, at 7 pm their three DJs will spin for your Silent DJ headsets. Each DJ will offer a little something-something special for your ears, and you can flip between channels to pick up their sounds. Be prepared to watch friends and strangers shaking their groove thing to music only they can hear. They’ll have a raffle, bar and other prom-ish treats and trinkets. Trancas Country Market Welcomes HAIR
This charming Malibu neighborhood destination offers everyday essentials including its newest tenants, upscale, full-service beauty salon, HAIR. They are hosting its grand opening this that will include a guest artist pop-up, hair styling, complimentary drinks, and music. This summer, HAIR is expanding its services to include makeup and will add nail and eyelash extension appointments slated to launch during Saturday’s grand opening. While you’re there, snag their “Summer Blowout” special promotion, offering stylish blowouts starting as low as $50. As you enjoy HAIR’s salon services, check out the featured art installation provided by New York artist Daniel Dens. Dens is a mixed-media artist, primarily working with silk-screened images. TŪMBI Opens
Drawing from the flavors and artistry of India’s cultural heritage, the new Westside eatery is serving up Modern Indian cuisine with a menu that combines authentic Indian street food with haute cuisine. TŪMBI is fromowner RJ Singh who was inspired by his trips through India to create the TŪMBI menu. Together, with Chef Imran Mookhi, they developed a menu with signature dishes including Pani Puri, a puff pastry with chickpeas, shallots, and tamarind mint water elegantly served in a shot glass; Afghani Seekh Kabob with ground lamb, fennel, tomato chutney; Charbroiled Paneer Tikka, yogurt, curry, mint chutney; Apricot Curry Patagonian Toothfish Masala with sustainably-caught Chilean sea bass, taro chips, and sweet peppers; Avocado Bhel Puri, avocado and citrus salad that includes puffed rice, tamarind chili, and garlic chutney; Channa Bhatura, a combination of garbanzo beans, garlic oil, garam spices, fried bread; and an array of Dosas, rice and lentil crepes served with sambar soup, flavorful chutneys. Designed by Architect Sat Garg, TŪMBI has an industrial chic vibe with a mural painted by Garg, which was inspired by the iconic temples and places of worship in India. Photos and artwork throughout the restaurant show street scenes taken from various places in India, particularly Rajasthan, Delhi and Chennai in South India. Echo Park Craft Fair (EPCF)
Founded by artists/designers Beatrice Valenzuela and Rachel Craven in 2009, EPCF has evolved from a backyard event to a biannual extravaganza at the Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake.
