Pearl’s BBQ in DTLA kicks-off the beginning of summer with a four-day Memorial Day celebration featuring live music, cold beer, and the best barbecue West of Texas. Pearl’s BBQ Head Cowboy and Pitmaster Dana Blanchard has deep Texas roots and knowledge of well-cooked smoked brisket. Determined to serve the best barbecue L.A. has ever tasted, Pearl’s BBQ was born. Beer Fest for Beer Geeks Presents: The Rarest Experience
This intimate, outdoor festival showcases over 30 extremely rare beers – collected and cellared secretly for years. Sourced from the private collections of our multiple Stout Burger locations, and direct from our brewery friends around the world, these beers aren’t just limited- you literally can’t find some of them anywhere else on Earth. Stout Beer Manager Joey Anderson has been hoarding his rarest, most prized kegs for this event – which will be the final of Rarest Experience events coordinated by Stout (focusing instead on one yearly beer festival rather than two). Notable beers on the taplist include a 2012 “The Beast” by Avery Brewing Co – a beer that Avery won’t be making every again. The Modern Times “Monsters Park” is a 2015 Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels – and was the first time the brewery aged this beer. Gabi James Introduces Brunch
Just in time for the Summer Brunch Season, Gabi James, Redondo Beach’s newest hotspot is serving up traditional items like Eggs Benedict; a Spanish Breakfast Sandwich with ham, cage free eggs, and Gruyere, served with french fries; and French Toast with lemon pastry cream and market berries. Brunch specialties include house made Merguez with eggs and mechouia served with an arugula salad and toast; Grilled Asparagus with poached eggs, brown butter, almonds and bacon; classic Pan Con Tomate with the option to add Manchego cheese, Jamon Serrano or Tuna Conserva; and an ‘Ugly Drum’ Hash featuring Ugly Drum pastrami, cage free eggs and red onion, served with toast. Parallel Pizzeria Opens
A collaboration between Chef Ryan Adams, owner/chef of Three Seventy Common Kitchen+Drink in Laguna Beach and former musician turned chef James Nunn, this casual, quick counter service eatery specializes in pies baked in a wood stone pizza oven and more. Parallel Pizzeria’s oblong, New Haven, Connecticut-inspired pies are thin-crusted crispy with a satisfying crunch and topped with SoCal best-of-the-moment procured ingredients. The pizza oven, scented by hardwood charcoal, delivers medium or large pies within seven to 10 minutes. You’ll find options including the Killer Dana topped with Italian chicken sausage, sweet cherry peppers, garlic, parmesan and cilantro pesto; Mashed Potato Pie; and a Clam Pie reminiscent of old-school pasta with clam sauce.
