A New Orleans native, Chef Brandon Boudet is bringing the flavors of Mardi Gras to his Los Feliz restaurant on Tuesday, February 13. From open to close, Little Dom’s will celebrate FatTuesday in true Bourbon Street style with gumbo, soft shell crab po’boys, beignets, pork belly cracklins, king cake, boudin balls, red beans & rice and cocktail specials. LACMA’s Free Evening for College Students
Explore Found in Translation: Design in California and Mexico, 1915–1985, the exhibition about design dialogues between California and Mexico. Discover the exhibition Painted in Mexico, 1700–1790: Pinxit Mexici, devoted to 18th-century Mexican painting; A Universal History of Infamy, which engages 16 U.S. Latino and Latin American artists and collaborative teams working across a range of media; Wu Bin: Ten Views of a Lingbi Stone, which explores the history of collecting strange stones in China and the relationship between them, Daoist cosmology, and classical Chinese poetry; and contemporary photography in Richard Prince: Untitled (cowboy). Participate in gallery discussions, curator tours, create art inspired by Found in Translation, and enjoy a free reception in honor of college students—all after public hours. Lucha VaVoom
This show is a mix of a Mexican wrestling match, comedy performance, and burlesque. Clearly, it’s hard to define what Lucha VaVoom is. Midnight Temple Ceremony
Downtown L.A.’s historic Chinatown welcomes the Year of the Dog with a traditional celebration at Thien Hau Temple. The midnight temple ceremony takes place on Chinese New Year’s Eve. Participate in traditional incense burning, make offerings to deities, watch lion dances, and enjoy 500,000 firecrackers in action at one of L.A.’s grandest temples.
