The number one thing people love about California is the weather. You can pretty much count on the sun to be shining so you can hike in Malibu, ride your bike on the Venice Boardwalk, and work out at a gym with a roof deck in Santa Monica. Located on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Burn Fitness is the perfect place to get in shape in the sunshine.
I headed to the large two-floor facility and met with Carly Gregson, who is certified in personal training from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She came to Los Angeles from West Virginia to pursue a career in fitness and launched her bodybuilding career, placing high in over five national and regional qualifying shows. With a calm demeanor, yet pushing me to my limits, Carly was the perfect trainer for me. I explained that I am getting married in three weeks and she gave me workouts that would pack the most impact in the quickest time.
The key is drills. She had me doing drills that pack in cardio along with strength training. If you only have 30 minutes to workout (or less), focus on to your legs. Your legs have the most muscle mass to keep you burning calories as the day goes on. Whether you are getting married, have an event you want to tone up for, or just want to get in shape, meeting with Carly will open your eyes to your potential and get you hitting the gym hard. If you are getting married, get to the roof where the ropes are because you can swing those bad boys and let out all your anger and frustration you have built up over the past few months of planning. I said they should have a bride package, where we can just go in, use those for a few minutes and leave feeling great.
The main fitness floor has cardio equipment fitted with theater monitors, a spacious free weight area and the group fitness studio where you can take classes like Sweat Circuit; Cardio Sculpt; Guns, Buns, and Abs; Beyond Barre, Core Strength; and more. (They also have clean locker rooms, showers, new saunas and complimentary towel service). Overall, the gym is indoors/outdoors, so while you are working out, you can enjoy the sunshine.
I loved meeting with Carly because she taught me workouts that I can fit in and I can do on my own to look best for my big day. Even someone who works out every day needs a change up in their routine and she provided workouts that are effective, fast, and will have you pushing yourself even further.
