LA‘s largest and most affordable tasting event is back for it’s seventh consecutive year. The event kicks off on Friday with a Dinner in the Rose Garden ($150) celebrating the Food Fest’s past and present. The main event is Saturday & Sunday. Wildwood Ovens‘ Summer Cooking Series
Wildwood Ovens makes wood fired ovens and is offering a Summer Cooking Series in Eagle Rock, which is the only place in SoCal teaching wood fire cooking in real wood fire ovens. This weekend, join in a Cooking with Wood Workshop, where you will learn to use rustic culinary techniques such as salt crust and rescoldo stone pot baking to cook meats and veggies in the chapa, forno, parrilla, assador, and infiernillo. Night Market
New York City’s Contra/Wildair team is coming to Los Angeles for a collaboration dinner with Kris Yenbamroong of Night + Market. Chefs Jeremiah Stone and Fabian Von Hauske plan to work an a la carte menu of unique dishes for the evening, with Yenbamroong adding in his own selection of new takes on dishes like pad kee mao and raw lamb larb. The night will carry a largely barbecue-focused theme, with the trio out back grilling lamb. J.D. The Melrose Business Improvement District (BID)’s Free Shopping Shuttle
The Melrose BID has partnered with electric car service, ParkPlace Cali, to offer a free shopping shuttle every Saturday and Sunday in July for you to get from one end of the street to the other. The BID stretches 22 blocks along Melrose Ave from Fairfax to Highland and in the hot weather it’s a long walk if you’re interested in visiting shops along the entire route. The seven-seat shuttle—which looks like an open-air Cadillac—will have many marked stops, listed below. The Melrose Shopping Shuttle is being sponsored by the BID along with several Melrose businesses including Cosmo & Nathalia, The Groundlings, Love Baked Wings and Manic Panic. If it proves to be as popular with shoppers as expected, the BID may continue running it all summer into the Fall.
