Crateful is convenient, innovative, organic, gourmet food designed by Michelin Star Chef, Cristina Bowerman and supervised by licensed nutritionist, Alyse Levine.
Earning a Michelin star in 2010 and named Chef Ambassador to the 2015 World Expo, Cristina is known for her balance between everyday Italian cuisine and new innovation. Born in Puglia, Italy, Chef Cristina changed up her native cuisine using outside influences. Sparked by a moved to San Francisco, where she worked at Higher Grounds coffee shop, she was in awe of the multitude of ethnicities in the city (and their flavorful cuisines). As a hobby while working as a graphic designer, she opened a catering company called The Two Skinny Ladies. Later, Bowerman moved to Austin, Texas, where she attended Le Cordon Bleu. She then worked at Driskill Grill, and after moving back to Italy, Convivio Troiani and then later opened Glass Hostaria in Rome.
As one the country’s leading nutritionists, Alyse Levine MS, RD has appeared on Good Morning America, Everyday Health, Discovery Health, The Doctors, KTLA, KCAL9 and KABC. Now, about the food…the chef-prepared gourmet meals are created with locally sourced and organic ingredients. The menus, which come in a variety of options including vegetarian, pescatarian, chef and fitness, are planned to be eaten on the day you receive them or even several days later. I also love how under each menu, you have the option to go gluten free and/or lactose free. The website is super easy to navigate and beautifully designed.
I received a vegetarian meal and a chef meal, both of which I tried before sharing with Tyler. I honestly couldn’t decide which meal I loved more. The vegetarian meal was homemade a veggie burger on top of a slaw and risotto-like rice with roasted tomatoes and ricotta. It was perfectly balanced and filling. As for the chef meal, Tyler loved the charred beef filet with zucchini and potato strings and beet salad. Plus, both dishes leave you with a sweet note of healthy desserts!
