Simmzy’s Venice Beach

Simms Restaurant Group, the team behind Simmzy’s, Manhattan Beach Post, Tin Roof Bistro, Fishing With Dynamite, and The Arthur J Steakhouse have opened Simmzy’s Venice (37 Washington Blvd., Venice, CA  90292; 424.835.6580), a much needed casual, beach spot with elevated, casual food and a relaxed atmosphere. Just steps from the Venice Pier, their dishes are focused on fresh, artisanal ingredients, along with a menu of local craft beer, and wine. This Simmzy’s location has an open floor plan that takes inspiration from Venice’s surf culture and allows for ocean breezes and great people watching.

Simmzy’s Venice, open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, serves up favorites including the Simmzy’s Burger, Grilled Fish Tacos, Spice & Vinegar Pulled Pork Panino, and the Apple Filled Donut. We noshed on Ahi Tartar with Spicy Soy, 15 Minute (but worth the wait!) Wings, and fried Brussels sprouts (not on the menu) to start. All of it was delicious (with the Brussels Sprouts, my fav) and well worth the wait (the wings). From there, Tyler had the Simmzy’s Burger and I had the Shrimp, Citrus & Avocado Salad. I loved how they had a bunch of salad options, along with unique sandwiches and not just burgers. Happy we had to walk home (to burn off some calories), everything was a step above “bar food” and makes Simmzy’s a great spot after a day on the beach or a day in the sun.

Longstanding partnerships with Strand Brewing Co., as well as new relationships with local breweries including Santa Monica Brew Works, MacLeod Ales, and upcoming Venice neighbor Firestone ensure that Simmzy’s always has a thoughtfully curated, rotating beverage selection that showcases LA’s growing beer scene. Not a beer drinker? They have a slew of wines to chose from and Simmzy’s Sangria on Saturdays & Sundays!
