Biking to Brunch at BacariPDR

Los Angeles is known for its great weather. It’s also a great city to bike around the beach. So when it’s 80 degrees in March, we hopped on our bikes and headed to Playa del Rey. (Why not work up an appetite for amazing brunch plates and even more delicious cocktails)?

BacariPDR (6805 S Vista Del Mar Ln, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293; 310.439.2100) is a quaint, uniquely shaped, friendly spot that you have to add to your must-try brunch spots. The waiters are welcoming, informative, and warm. We started with bloody Marys that were eye opening and perfect after our bike ride. We then noshed on goat cheese polenta with lamb and a fried egg, the open faced burger with aioli, caramelized onions and a fried egg, pancakes with strawberries and bananas, and my favorite, the warm kale salad with bacon vinaigrette, bacon, and a poached egg. The kale salad really made me fall in love with BacariPDR. Not a lot of restaurants offer a dish that is breakfast without toast or potatoes, and for someone who has odd food allergies (me), this dish was everything I could want for breakfast. It was savory, substantial, and had all the breakfast ingredients I love (who doesn’t love bacon)?

While we digested, I ordered up the strawberry Bellini which is created from their fresh strawberry puree. It is a must order. Just beware, it goes down fast.

Overall, I highly recommend BacariPDR for brunch. It’s a unique spot in the up-and-coming, quiet Playa del Rey. With great service, delicious eats, and incredible drinks, you can’t go wrong.
