Cedric Savelli and Olympe Ricco opened Napoleon and Josephine Restaurant (7212 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, CA; 323.424.7487) on Thursday night and it’s the first Corsican (Italian and French) restaurant in Los Angeles. Savelli is a musician, while Ricco is from a culinary pedigree, as his sister owns a five star Relais & Chateau in Calvi, Corsica and his parents own several restaurants in Balagnese.
The restaurant is charming and has a bistro aesthetic of an upscale Grandma’s house. There’s a ceiling fresco, Martinelli signs and a “Napoleon NAPE” poster stylized like Fairey’s “HOPE”.
The menu is stylized as French (even with grammar) and is in French, but dishes seem to have an Italian influence. Dishes include Charcuterie, Chicken Liver Mousse, Buratta and Pesto, Fish Soup, Swordfish Fillet, Lamb, Tagliolini Parmiggiana, and Beef with Potato Gratin, Risotto.
Bottles of red and whites from Calvi, Figari, Sartene and Patrimonio.
