For another year, Los Angeles restaurants have come together to inspire you to get involved in raising awareness for men’s health issues by participating in the Movember movement!
Launched in Australia back in 2003, Movember was started as a fun way to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues including prostate and testicular cancer. Today, the month-long event is the world’s largest men’s health movement, and inspires men (and supportive women) to help bring in money to fight some of the most pressing health issues in men’s lives. How does it work? Start November off, clean shaven and grow the best moustache possible over the course of 30 days, thereby inspiring everyone around them to pledge in support of their efforts. All funds go to the Movember Foundation.
Santa Monica’s Del Frisco’s Grille is inspiring everyone to get involved in raising awareness for men’s health issues by dedicating a portion of the proceeds from their Mo-licious specialty cocktail to the Movember Foundation. The Movember Mule is a fiery concoction of ginger beer, apple cider and Fireball cinnamon whiskey.
MURPH’S is supporting men’s health by offering a special twist on every man’s favorite Old Fashioned with The Mo Fashioned, made with Dickel Rye whiskey, Angostura, Peychaud and orange bitters, Maraschino liquor and finished with a flaming twist of citrus. A portion of the proceeds from the MO-Fashioned will also be donated directly to the Movember Foundation.
Throughout the month of November, the Venice Whaler will be donating $1 for every Draft Beer, Bramble cocktail and order of Wings sold directly to the Movember Foundation. Order up those local craft brews on draft like the Santa Monica Brew Works Witbeir, Strand Beach House Amber Ale, Eagle Rock Revolution Pale Ale or a StonerDuck Hemp Brown Ale. If cocktails are more your speed, The Bramble is crafted with gin, fresh blackberries and lemon. The Venice Whaler will also donate an additional $1 for everyone who soaks their moustache in their beer or wing sauce. (Photographic evidence is required for this one, so post up pic with hashtags #VeniceWhaler and #Movember).
Don’t miss the The 2nd Annual Venice Beach Stouts N Staches Fest, presented by Hotel Erwin on Saturday, November 22 from 2-8 pm. The party will music by the Black Crystal Wolf Kids, a Bob Dylan tribute band, Jack of Hearts, DJ, ‘stache contests, free shaves, photo booth, a Venice Duck Brewery beer garden and more. Show off your official Stouts N Staches wristband and score $5 craft beers, special food items and access to Barlo’s exclusive ‘stache-inspired menu of snacks and drinks at the event. All attendees must flash their stash at the event, and those with the best moustache will have the chance to win a special Hotel Erwin Prize Package, which includes a two-night stay, dinner at Barlo and free transportation from Curb.
