It was the day before my 31st birthday, so what better way to spend it, than getting beautiful at Sally Hershberger Salon (760 N La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90069; 310.854.4922)?
I first met with Robyn Cosio, who wrote The Eyebrow and was a wealth of beauty knowledge. Robyn Cosio is a world-renowned makeup artist and eyebrow specialist that spends one week in NYC, but is based out of Sally Hershberger Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in Vogue, InStyle, Harper’s Bazaar,W, Elle, Marie Claire, Mademoiselle and Allure and in television commercials for Gallo Winery, Maybelline and Levi’s. She has designed makeup for Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Bill Blass. I was pretty much floored, that her hands would be on my face.
Robyn examines her client’s face and creates a brow that works with your face. She tinted my brows, and shaped them perfectly, along with tinting my lashes (which I had never had done). I was in love with the look. To know I wasn’t wearing any make up was refreshing, exhilarating, and most of all she made me feel beautiful and confident.
From there, I was whisked away to see Nicole Pascual, who exudes “cool”. She was down for my need of chopping off five inches, so we, well, she quickly went to work. I loved how she interacted with her assistant. It was a pleasure to see they truly loved working together and they respected each other. On top of that, we all chatted as if we had hung out for years.
As for Nicole’s background, she discovered her gift and love for styling hair while earning a sociology degree at UCLA. She began creating haircuts for classmates and friends and once she graduated, she pursued her passion and enrolled at the Vidal Sassoon Academy.
Watching Nicole work, you can see her love for hair styling. She is bubbly, yet edgy and can back it up with her experiences of working at Warren-Tricomi salon, John Frieda salon, and now, Sally Hershberger. She elevated my hair cut and styled in a way this soon to be 31 year old, was ready for. She has a way of sculpting hair and pushing your style to the next limit.
