Three Day Rule (and Giveaway)

Three Day Rule is a new type of personalized matchmaking. This personal dating concierge has world-class matchmakers hand selecting and meeting each of your matches before making formal introductions to you. Talia Goldstein is the creator of Three Day Rule and I was lucky enough to ask her some of my questions:

I read a little about how you went into the matchmaking business…how did you know you had a talent for it? Were you scared people wouldn’t take you seriously?

I’ve always enjoyed setting up my friends and offering dating advice, but I think the moment when I truly recognized that I had a talent for matchmaking was at my wedding. I went around the ballroom taking photos with couples and it occurred to me that I had successfully matched about 10 of them. Soon after my honeymoon, I quit my job and started to pursue matchmaking as a full-time business with the launch of Three Day Rule.

People were much more receptive than I had anticipated. Every time I introduced myself as a matchmaker, the person I was talking to had a million questions and 99% of the time would meet me for coffee so I could learn about their dating history and type.

What did it feel like to have your first match get married?

That was a pretty amazing feeling. I recognized that I was actually making a difference in people’s lives. Now we have the first wave Three Day Rule babies on the way which is pretty incredible as well.

What do you believe makes a lasting relationship?

I find that so many singles are looking for the wrong things in a partner. At the end of the day, it’s about finding someone supportive, loyal, caring and someone who shares a few interests with you.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

I do believe in love at first sight, but I also believe that if you don’t feel the chemistry immediately, don’t consider it a deal-breaker. Many successful couples didn’t fall in love immediately, so I suggest giving it a chance. This is especially true with women. We have the ability to become more attracted to a guy based on his personality.

Do you believe there are rules to dating?

I don’t have many strict rules to dating, but I suggest avoiding dinner for first dates. Just grab one drink and keep it around 45 minutes. If there is interest you will have plenty of time to go on a second date and build excitement. If you go on a lot of dinner dates you will begin to dread dating.

What is the most difficult city to date in and why?

Every city is different and poses unique challenges. I think LA might be the most difficult because there are a lot of people with unrealistic expectations and skewed values given Hollywood’s influence. But there are so many amazing people in LA and we help you weed through to find the right one. Maybe you haven’t been looking in the right places!

Do you believe when you know, you know and run with it or take it slow and get to know each other (or everyone’s relationship is different)?

I believe when you know, you know. You know because it feels easy and comfortable and you are the best version of yourself. That said, no need to rush into things. It’s fun to take things slow and go on the few first dates.

If you could leave guys and girls with one piece of advice for dating in LA what would it be?

Girls – be proactive until you land the first date, then go back to being traditional.
Guys – be a gentleman. Call a girl, open her doors, and tell her she looks pretty. Chivalry will get you far, especially these days because many guys have gotten lazy.

I couldn’t agree more.
