Philly transplants get excited! Whiz, (3901 W 6th St., Los Angeles, 90020) a new sandwich shop from Jimmy Han and Wes Lieberher, who are also behind the craft beer and menu at Beer Belly. They are serving up cheesesteaks like the Whiz Wit, Jalapeño Jack (Philly cheesesteak with house made Pepper Jack Whiz & house-pickled jalapeños), American Bacon (Philly cheesesteak with American Cheese & Applewood Smoked Bacon), and the Buffalo Bleu Chicken Cheesesteak (Philly Chicken Cheesesteak made with chopped chicken breast, buffalo Sauce, Blue Cheese dressing and melted provolone).
In addition to cheesesteaks, you can order up hot sandwiches like Balls ‘O Bacon (Applewood Smoked Bacon and pork shoulder meatballs, topped with chunky marinara and melted provolone on a 9“ Amoroso‘s Roll) and Pork Roll, Egg & Cheese (Taylor’s Ham Pork Roll, eggs, and American Cheese on a 9“ Amoroso’s Roll). Cold Hoagies include the Italian Stallion (sliced ham, Capicola, salami, fried pork roll, Provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, fresh onions, and house Italian mayo), Young Turk Hoagie (sliced roasted turkey breast, Provolone, cherry peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, fresh onionsand house Italian mayo), and Beet Red Tuna (tuna salad with celery, red onions, and lime-beet mayo on olive-tapenade, avocado & micro cilantro).
They also have buffalo wings, red curry wings, sweet & spicy basil wings, Whiz fries (with Whiz or Pepper Jack Whiz, Sriracha Beast Fries (with Sriracha Island Dressing, Whiz, and Grilled Onions and Philly Mega Fries with Provolone, Mozzarella, Whiz, and bacon. Burgers include the P Dub Burger (with Sliced American & Tillamook Sharp Cheddar, housemade Sriracha Island Dressing, fried shallots, & micro cilantro on a Brioche Bun), the Breezy Bacon Burger (with sliced Tillamook Sharp Cheddar, Apple-wood Smoked Bacon, Iceberg lettuce, ketchup and house Italian mayo on a Brioche Bun) and the Falafel Burger (made house-made Falafel, Tzatziki, cucumbers, tomatoes, spicy pickled carrots on a Brioche Bun).
