Midtown Bar & Kitchen

Midtown Bar & Kitchen (5722 Melrose Ave Los Angeles, CA 90004) from Filippo Cortivo (Osteria Mamma, Osteria La Buca), Max Mamikunian and Marko Shafer (Hotel Cafe) soft open yesterday. They are serving up an international tapas menu that has hints of Italy. The menu is divided into categories including crostini, meat, fish & seafood, and vegetarian. As for crostini, varieties include Mushrooms (king oysters mushrooms, white mushrooms, gruyere cheese); Melted Cheese (Tegamini manchego & gruyere cheese, white mushrooms); and Black Truffle & Duck Salami (truffle sauce, grana padano cheese). Under the meat category, you’ll find Charcuterie, Melted Mozzarella Burger, Grilled Lamb Chop Balsamic, and Skewer Chicken in Pizzaiola-Tomatoe Sauce with Mashed Potatoes. Fish &  Seafood has Fritto Misto, Sautéed Shrimp with Prosciutto, Grilled Salmon in Wine Sauce, and Tuna Peppata peppered sliced tuna. Vegetarians chow down on Avocado Salad and Mango-Gorgonzola Salad.

The international theme bleeds into the wine list as well and they also have specialty cocktails. Mamikunian and Shafer are behind the comfortable neighborhood spot. Dinner is Monday-Saturday until 11 pm, with the bar closing about 1 am.
