Basin 141 (2265 Honolulu Ave., Montrose, CA 91020) is the reincarnation of Fat Dog Montrose. It’s a neighborhood gastropub from owners Joe and David Friedman. The spot overall has a vintage feel and a large menu that has beet salads, kale salads, tacos, burger, sandwiches, and fish & chips. Desserts includes specialty donuts and a chocolate bread pudding. Plus, they have happy hour Monday-Friday which includes “K-town” wings, pork belly tacos, braised beef sliders, $3 pints of Anchor Steam, $4 wine, and $5 cocktails.
Brunch is a little minimal and leans towards Mexican dishes with chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, carnitas, and fish tacos. The sweet spot is you can wash down with bottomless mimosas, sangria, and micheladas.
In addition to their rotating beer, there are guest taps, which may include Green Flash IPA, Dude’s Brewing porter, or Craftman’s Heavenly hefeweizen to name a few. If specialty cocktails is more your thing, try the Angeleno Julep made with Bulleit Rye or Four Aces, and tequila, St. Germain, and cucumber.
Open weekdays, 3 pm-12 am, Saturdays, 11 am-12 am, and Sundays 10 am-12 am.
