Bank of Venice

Tom Elliott and Spoon Singh, the duo behind Venice Ale House, are opening up their second beachside spot, Bank of Venice, (80 Windward Ave., Los Angeles, 90291) taking over the Dry Tour Wine Bar/Code space at the corner of Windward and Pacific. Why the name? It’s housed in what used to be a bank over a hundred years ago!

Chef Jason Feehrer (sustainable chef behind Hawaii’s Palm Cafe and B.C.’s Sooke Harbor House) is serving a Pacific Rim meets the Pacific Northwest menu of organic, sustainable, hormone and GMO-free dishes like grass-fed meatloaf; gluten-free mac & cheese with 60-day raw, aged cheddar; seared scallops with garlic sautéed spinach and mashers, and carnitas tacos. There will be a few more seafood dishes like Tom’s catch-of-the-day ceviche, shrimp and bacon quesadillas, and mussels Sauvignon. Other comfort foods include bangers & mash (sausage courtesy of Neiman Ranch), and nachos del blanco.

There’s also 30 local beers in bottles and on tap, more than 24 California wines, and a selection of fresh fruit cocktail infusions for soju cocktails. Grand opening to the public is this Friday.  They’ll be serving food until midnight on weekdays and 2 am on weekends.
