RAW (201 S. Robertson Blvd., Beverly Hills) is a new airy, affordable sushi spot owned and operated by Kyle Puranamaneewiwat, who also owns six other restaurants, including Gindi Thai in Toluca Lake and The Bureau, a burger place in Emeryville.
RAW’s sushi chef, Al Pisan, trained at a few other sushi restaurants around town and his menu is strictly Japanese, with a wide selection of raw dishes, rolls and sashimi. There are a few warm bites too, including some tempura, grilled fish and miso soup. Most dishes are priced around $12 and an 11-course omakase option for $45. Open daily for lunch and dinner, RAW expects to multiply quickly with another location opening in Emeryville later this year.
