The Urban Oven

Pizza is most people’s favorite food. Now, it’s gone mobile. Keep your eyes open for Chef Scott Tremonti’s The Urban Oven, (Twitter), a new pizza truck that’s got a wood-burning oven built right in.

With a unique menu of signature pizzas, The Urban Oven combines seasonally sourced ingredients with the purest form of cooking. Chef Tremonti’s simple sauce includes San Marzano tomatoes picked at the peak of ripeness, Seattle-sourced salumi and organic, farm-fresh vegetables and cheeses.

But, the secret’s in the dough. Aged to perfection, The Urban Oven’s gourmet crust with hints of sourdough achieves an irresistible mix of flavor and crispness.

Through his custom-built mobile food truck with an actual wood fired oven, he makes each pizza fresh as it’s ordered. Get Neapolitan-style pies topped with artisanal ingredients like house-made fennel sausage and Calabrian chilies, or gruyère, Yukon potatoes and sea salt. They are serving up classics like Margherita (pomodoro, Buffalo mozzarella, olive oil, basil) and Crimini Mushroom (olive oil, mozzarella, Crimini mushroom, thyme), or try their signature pies like Tartufo (pomodoro, mozzarella, truffle pepperoni, sweet onion), Hot Paprika (pomodoro, mozzarella, hot paprika salumi, poblano chiles, grana), Quattro Formaggi (olive oil, mozzarella, grana, goat cheese, gruyere, seasonal peppers and “salumi” mole’), Bacon & Brussels Sprout (olive oil, Brussels sprout leaf, smoked mozzarella, applewood bacon, dates), Prosciutto & Grape (olive oil, fontina, prosciutto crudo, red grapes, rosemary), Sausage and Beans (olive oil, fresh mozzarella, fontina, fennel sausage, cannelloni beans, rosemary and kale), Good Friday (olive oil, fontina, garlic shrimp, fresh pineapple, Thai chili’s, fresh mint and fresh cilantro) or the Veal Meatball (pomodoro, fresh mozzarella, Veal meatball, caramelized onions, Alfonso olives, Parmigiano Reggiano). Oh wait, there are seasonal pies too, like Bacon and Eggs (egg, bacon, assorted potato, caramelized onion, grana) and Gorgonzola Dolce (gorgonzola dolce, seasonal fruit and Amaretto cookie).

Plus, you can doodle on the truck’s chalkboard paint job while you wait.
