Wilshire Getaway

Miracle Mile is an area of Los Angeles that is often looked over, but it is an area full of culture, amazing dining and just steps from shopping at The Grove. I had the full Miracle Mile experience while staying at The Hotel Wilshire (6317 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, 90048; 323.852.6000), which is located in the heart of the Miracle Mile. The Hotel Wilshire is a eco-friendly, modern boutique hotel with luxury accommodations and designs by KNA Design. The stylish, plush décor and designer furnishings gives a chic, as well as, comfortable ambiance (like their spa-style bathroom).

In addition to in-room dining, you can enjoy a sleek, rooftop experience at the hotel’s restaurant and bar, The Roof on Wilshire with vibrant American cuisine by Eric Geenspan and panoramic views of the Hollywood Hills. The roof is literally a night that entertains all of your senses. Not only are the views breathtaking, but the roof has both fire and water (with a pool and fire pit) and an innovative cuisine with creative twists on classic comfort foods.

The restaurant includes a bar specializing in both classic and imaginative cocktails including about 5 varieties of the Moscow Mule (my fav) (variations made with tequila, gin or vodka). They serve up breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.

We started with the Lobster Salad with Corn Fritters and the Nori Nachos. Both, were unique dishes with flavors I had never had before. The Lobster was cool, creamy and sweet, which was a perfect balanced with the warm savory fritters. The Nori Nachos were an amazing Asian take on a classic dish, that included salmon roe, avocado and a kick at the end of your bite. For entrees, you choose a protein and a side (more like a bed for the protein). We chose the Pork Belly with the Roasted Eggplant, which was sweet and savory and Shrimp and Kale, which went together perfectly.

The Hotel Wilshire offers a variety packages that gives you one of the best experiences in Los Angeles. Plus, you get a minimum 10% savings:

Los Angeles Weekend Getaway Package, starting from $254/night, includes a bottle of champagne, complimentary overnight parking and a late checkout at 2pm.

While staying at The Hotel Wilshire, I highly recommend making a visit to the LACMA and especially Ray’s & Stark Bar (5905 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, 90036, 323.857.6197). Ray’s has food with incredible flavor with impeccable service in a beautiful, modern uncommon setting. We started with Heirloom tomatoes and The Scallops. The Heirloom Tomatoes sounds simple, but with pesto, olives, burrata and olive oil, it had levels that hit every note. The Scallops came in a savory sauce, cooked and wrapped in a fried, egg roll. We also tasted the Tuna and Squid Ink noodles, which had house-made noodles and the perfect dense texture. Other highlights include the Garlic Sausage which was cooked with grapes for a sweet, savory mixture and the Crispy Pork Belly that melted in your mouth along with the yellow watermelon that accompanied it.

Dessert was out of this world. We had the peach cobbler and for a chocolate lover like me, it was hands down the best. I went for the chocolate, which had just about every type of chocolate on the plate (mousse, gelato, cake, sauce).

Miracle Mile is full of culture, shopping and one-of-a-kind dining. For your next staycation or great meal, check out The Hotel Wilshire, The Roof on Wilshire and Ray’s & Stark Bar.
