La Otra Taqueria Escuela, (7615 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, 90036) opens on Friday and it’s a new BYOB taco spot on Beverly, right by the original Escuela.
This spot is the bigger Escuela with a bigger menu. Grab a seat at one of the little tables on the sidewalk out front if it’s you and a friend or date. If you are part of a big group, grab the big round table under the ceiling installation of vintage shoe forms, by the window inside. It comes with a lazy Susan in the middle, that you can load up with a huge pile of soft corn tortilla tacos (Maine lobster, slow-roasted baby back ribs, branzino, carne asada or shrimp). Start off with chewy chips, salsa and guacamole served in jars. Then, move onto burritos, tostadas, tamales and large plates (skirt steak, pork and green chile stew). Check out the full menu.
Open for lunch and dinner daily from 11 am-11 pm and midnight on weekends.
